National Library Week local celebrations
To celebrate National Library Week at Chickasha Public Library there are several events you can participate in:
You can enter your name in a drawing for prizes by signing up through Beanstack or by dropping by the library.
You can attend a Proclamation presentation signed by Mayor Mosley at 6:00pm, at City Hall, prior to the Chickasha City Council Meeting.
You can come to the Chickasha Public Library and give the workers a ‘round of applause’ on Tuesday, April 6th which is National Library Worker’s Day. Do you know the qualifications of the staff of the Chickasha Public Library? 2 workers – Director Lillie Huckaby and Library Assistant Michelle Skinner have MLIS (Master of Library and Information Studies) degrees from OU and Courtney Mayall will have a MLIS degree from OU in a few weeks; Sandy Robertson has held State Certification for over 20 years; Beth Cranton and Brande Bradford have held State Certification for several years. This staff is well qualified, and they really enjoy helping patrons. Mayor Mosley, The Chickasha Library Board, and the Friends of the Library will be honoring the library staff at 3:30pm this day, you can come and be a part of that.
You can visit our ‘bookmobile’ on Wednesday, April 7th celebrating National Outreach Day. Many libraries have bookmobiles. Chickasha Public Library’s ‘bookmobile’ is going to be at Shannon Springs Park 10am-12noon, and Washita Valley Park 2pm-4pm.
You can take a look at our website https://chickashapl.okpls.org/, our Facebook page, and Instagram Handle on Thursday, April 8th as Chickasha Public Library highlights our virtual services.
You can come on Friday, April 9th at 3:30 as the Chickasha Public Library appreciates it’s volunteers, and support groups. Volunteers, The Library Board, and the Friends of the Library will be honored.
You can come to CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY! Saturday, April 10th . You can bike to the library, walk to the library, however you want to come visit. At 1:30 there will be drawings for prizes. One of the prizes is the opportunity to select titles to be painted on a panel on the outside of the library. Other prizes include baskets filled with books and fun stuff. There will be something for everyone. We appreciate our customers and patrons. THANK YOU for utilizing the services of YOUR library. There will be other activities that day such as a Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance at 11:00, a fruit salad demonstration at 12:15, Storytime at 1:00, a Friends mini-booksale, a mini–StoryWalk, and a sidewalk activity.
